It appears that a lot of energy is being spent to "prove" or "disprove" that the Bible condemns homosexuality and/or homosexual acts.
My opinion is that this is wasted energy.
No matter how clever an argument may be made, it is apparent that both mainstream Jewish and Christian thought over several thousand years has seen homosexuality as a major sin. Unless one can take seriously the notion that generation upon generation of Jewish and Christian leaders have all been witless dullards the counter arguments must fail.
The real issue here is "so what?"
What possible difference can it make that a text written by people who thought the Sun revolved around the Earth, the world was no more than a few thousand years old, and that illness was caused by demonic possession condemns homosexuality?
Given that the same text approves of slavery and damns eating lobster I can't take it very seriously as a guide to modern living."
